I am pleased to announce the release of my new book I Want to Publish My Book But I Don't Know How: Everything You Need to Know to Create an e-book or Print Book, Available in Print and Kindle
"I want to publish my book but I don't know how to do it, please help me." In my How to Publish Your Book Facebook Group I get some version of this question more than any other. Usually the book is written and that is as far as the author has gotten. Where do I start? What do I do? How do I publish my book? I have just published, now what do I do? These are really big and often confusing questions. So, let’s dive in and see if I can give you some direction and the basic overview of how you can publish your book.
I Want to Publish My Book But I Don’t Know How is set up in three parts depending on what your questions or needs are.
Part 1. Key Publishing Questions. Part 1 takes you through many of the basic questions that people ask about publishing their book. I talk about where to publish, what is print-on-demand, what is an ISBN number, CreateSpace, Kindle and how does copyright work.
Part 2. Writing, Creating and Publishing Your Book. Part 2 is an overview of the creating and publishing process. I have broken it down into 12 steps. We start with creating the content. Then print or e-book, what is involved and how do you do it, interior and cover. We move to publishing your book, how and where it is done and then one of my favorite topics, re-purposing your content for additional revenue. Includes the Self-Publishing Checklist.
Part 3. The Bonus Section. In the bonus section I cover four topics; how to launch your book as an Amazon best seller with a Best Seller Check List. How to create a book quickly using my Top Ten Technique and we wrap up with a resource list.

How I Sell My Books Master Class Webinar, Wednesday, January 17 at 5:00pm Eastern Time
I am pleased to announce my first Master Class for the Publishing Mastery Academy
for this Wednesday, January 17 at 5:00PM Eastern Time on

How I Sell My Books Master Class
One of the most common questions I get is around marketing and selling your book. You just published your book on Amazon and congratulations, but now what? You might have done a book launch but what do you do on day two. How do you get sales? How do you turn this into a business? This is where I focus. The launch or even a best seller launch is fun if it happens but it is a lot of work to pull off. And it doesn’t really set you up for the long-term sales of your book. Books can be like little engines, just kind of chugging along with regular continual sales.
In this Master Class webinar I will focus on what I do to sell my books for years and years? This will be a live interactive training held over Zoom.us. Hope you can join me. I will also be posting the replay after the webinar.
My goal for 2018 the Publishing Mastery Academy is to have monthly publishing trainings on publishing books using Indesign, PowerPowerPoint, Marketing, Products and much more.
Included in the Master Class How I Sell Books Training:
• My #1 Tip if I had to give only one tip
• Building your author platform
• Using the Amazon sales page effectively
• Selling from inside your book
• On and Off-line book selling
• The thumbnail test
• Is your Table of Contents working for you?
• Your 5 Key book pages, and many more

Running an Amazon Giveaway Test on My Book Marketing Checklist Book
![]() |
Here is how the Amazon Giveaway looks on Facebook |
Once you have the Amazon link you pretty much just have to spread the link around the web on Twitter, Facebook, your blog, etc so people can see it and click on it. For mine I am using my Book Marketing Checklist for Self-Publishing book. I have spread the link to Facebook, Twitter, and my blog.
The program works with you going to the bottom of pretty much any Amazon product page and seeing the Giveaway button and then just filling out the form. You have to pre-pay for the product that you are giving away plus shipping. When someone clicks you send them to a Twitter page, or a video or couple of other things. Basically Amazon sends you a link and you spread it around.

The program runs for 7 days and/or a number of clicks that Amazon determines fits for your book. You also have a number of options that you can select on how the prize is awarded. I am sending people to the intro video for my Publishing Mastery 101 member site. Here is the video I sent people to
Here is the Giveaway link for the Book Marketing Checklist for Self-Publishers Giveaway, active until Nov 23, 2017 or until I get 500 clicks.

I have been participating in the PrintfulChallenge from Printful.com. This challenge is about 30 different ways to market your products and grow your store. They are wrapping it around their tshirts, hats and mugs but really it can be applied to any product or presence online. On Tuesday, September 12th, I will be a guest on the Monetize Show with Gail Turner Brown and RL Chance talking about product creation. I love having a deadline to get things done. Below is my new text. I will share the link for the show as soon as I have it. You can check out the updated product.
Included in the Course:
Quick Version of how to Make a product and Sell it on Gumroad.com and your website

Year End Book Sales Report, How Many Books Did I Sell in 2016? 4,322 Books
It is that time of year for the end of year report. I am a huge promoter of self-publishing and all that it can bring. Once you get some books going you can have a nice little income stream. 2016 was a good year for book sales. Just a little better than 2015 which was also pretty good.
Total book unit sales 4,322
Total book dollar sales $14,582
Average royalty $3.73
USA sales $11,968
Great Britain Sales $2,355
European Sales $259
International Best Seller 1, Book Marketing Checklist for Self Publishing
Total book sales for the year are 4,322 all from CreateSpace for a total of $14,582 in dollars. Books have been holding pretty steady. But what really helped this year was gang buster December. This December was the best month I have ever had with a total of 560 books sold. My regular best sellers are still my best sellers, Blank Sheet Music for Guitar and World Regional Maps Coloring Book. They were only apart by 15 books.
One of the big lessons I learned a long time ago is that books can remain remarkably steady in sales. Once they hit their monthly level they can stay around that level for years.
My print books are my best selling books and have been since I started. I do have a pretty successful Kindle book right now, my Book Marketing Checklist for Self Publishing, but other than that most of my Kindle books don't do much. Also this year Amazon kicked all the coloring books off of Kindle. I figured that was coming anyways.
For me this was a huge year of change. I wound down my design business after 30 years, sold my house, traveled all over the US for the summer, and bought a new house. All while my books just kept on selling. I highly recommend developing a line of books that you can build on and build a business around. Test every idea you have until you find one that works and then expand it. If you can figure out a book that people need to keep re-buying, like the blank sheet music books, then you will get repeat sales and have a success. Think log books, journals, medical, sports, and weight diaries, etc. Once people like them they just keep on buying them.
It was also a year where I had my first Amazon International Best Selling book, my Book Marketing Checklist for Self Publishing. I hadn't really ever run a book launch campaign until this year even though I have been selling books for years. It went great and this book continues to be my best selling Kindle Book. To learn more about how to run your own Best Seller campaign click here. But I do have a number of Amazon category best selling print books, which is any book in the top 100 and have had these for a long time. I would much rather go after and build a great selling book than a single day best seller. You make a lot more money
I have 45 titles on CreateSpace and Amazon, 39 of them sold at least one book last year with the best seller, selling 1,222 copies. Almost all books sell at least 1 a year, Most sell at least one a month, then 1 a week. I regard any book that sells 10-15 a month a successful book. Doesn't sound like a lot but it adds up to the bottom line. I still market my books using blogs, Pinterest, websites and email auto responders along with promotions from Amazon and Google.

How to Make a Best Seller, Step 1: Pre-Launch: Write Out Your Launch Plan
The first thing I did for the launch of my book, Book Marketing Checklist for Self-Publishers was to scribble out a plan of what I would do in my notebook. Not a very scientific method but it worked and kept me on track. I used the Level 1 Checklist from my own book, Marketing My Book with Little Effort and $0.00 Dollars, right here in this new book
For the entire checklist, check out the next post on the Launch Case Study

How I Launched My Book Marketing Checklist Book to #1 International Best Seller: Case Study
Case Study for the Launch of Book Marketing Checklist to #1 International Best Seller
This is the beginning of a series of post on how I launched Book Marketing Checklist for Self-Publishers to a #1 international best seller.
Launch Day is here for my book, Book Marketing Checklist for Self-Publishers. It was a roller coaster experience. Launching a book is an exciting and exhausting experience. I have released a lot of books over the years but this book was my first #1 best selling book and #1 internationally in Australia and Canada. And also a bestselling book in Great Britain and Germany.
This was also the first time that I actually had a plan of how to do it and then used it. I used my own book to launch my own book. When it came time to launch I actually open up the launch section and followed my own Level 1 plan. Over all, the launch took about 40 hours of work to run, 20 hours of prep and 20 hours or so for the actual launch. My launch campaign was run using the Kindle ebook version of my book. Kindle books are easier to launch because you can set the price at $.99 and create an impluse buy.
The Checklist Book Launch Plan
___Step 2: Pre-Launch: pick categories and keywords for your book.
___Step 3: Pre-Lunch, Make sure your book is live on Amazon and can be purchased, buy a copy.
___Step 4: Pre-Launch: Prepare a media kit with launch graphics; cover shots, author head shots, text and links to your Amazon book sales page.
___Step 5: Pre-Launch: Research some other book launches and their descriptive text for inspiration on how to write yours. Google “recent book launches.”
___Step 6: Pre-Launch: Set up a MS Word document with your description text and links to Amazon.
___Step 7: 9:00am Launch: Release your new book, we begin.
___Step 8: Launch: Post your book launch notices everywhere you can.
___Step 9: Launch: Thank your fans for buying your book, build social proof.
___Step 10: Launch: Record your progress on Amazon rankings with screenshots.
___ Step 11: Launch: Continue to post updates during the day, post screenshots of any progress on Amazon in your social media sites.
___Step 12: Launch: In the evening do another round of launch notices. Encourage people to push you over the top.
___Step 13: Launch: Be sure to screen capture all results. The rankings don’t last that long on Amazon. You will need these for marketing.
___Step 14: Post-Launch: Thank your fans again for their support. Post the results of how high you got in the rankings. Did you get bestseller?
___Step 15: Post-launch: Update all your bios with your new best seller status.
I will be taking each on these steps and breaking them down into more details on how I did it.
